Chpter’s merchants were losing up to 21 % of potential checkouts because human agents couldn’t respond to product questions fast enough. I designed an AI Assistant Control Panel directly inside the merchant dashboard. Since launch, the panel has driven a 30 % adoption rate among active stores, cut average shopper response time by -91 % (2 min 14 s ➔ 12 s), and lifted cart-to-checkout conversion by +8 percentage points, helping both Chpter and its merchants scale revenue without adding support staff.

Merchants on Chpter handle high chat volume across WhatsApp, Instagram DM, and other social media platforms. 32 % of chats asked repetitive questions (pricing, delivery ETA, stock), yet human response times averaged > 2 min. Owners wanted AI help.

Objective

Empower merchants to self-deploy and fine-tune an AI assistant that answers FAQs, guides checkout, and hands off edge-cases—while maintaining full control and visibility.

What I Learned

• Merchants trust AI when they can see and tweak tone in plain language.
• Clear success metrics rallied design, data, and engineering around one shared goal.
